Wow wow wow! I am finally able to share my beautiful new (and incredibly low-maintenance) siding and trim! We have hit so many delays on this project but it is now installed AND painted! I spent a lot of time researching vertical siding for this remodel and after lots of thorough research I landed on this TruExterior nickel gap siding and I LOVE it! It is made from a durable poly-ash material that resists moisture and bugs, comes pre-primed and ready for paint and does not require edge sealing on cuts. And on top of all of that, it was a breeze for Tom to install. We are so happy with our TruExterior vertical siding! And about that paint color….it’s Benjamin Moore Dragon’s Breath.

Adding to the porch and creating a centerpiece with limestone was the initial vision. We also knew we needed new siding—siding that could be painted dark because we were leaning toward rich, moody tones. We are so glad we chose the TruExterior poly-ash material because it is dimensionally stable, which promotes long-lasting paint adhesion - even for dark colors like ours!
A work in progress. This project has been long and grueling at times. We’ve experienced many obstacles and setbacks along the way, but we’re so glad to finally be able to enjoy all of the planning, preparing and labor that has gone into it.
Choosing a color to paint the siding was tough. We debated several and even wrote about it here. We landed on Benjamin Moore Dragon’s Breath and we’re thrilled.

• maintains a high level of dimensional stability—our dark paint looks fabulous and will continue to do so!
• installs easily using standard woodworking tools and methods—it was a breeze for Tom to install!
And now we just need to slow down enough to get out here and enjoy this front porch, but life moves fast and other projects are calling!
We’re so happy with the finished exterior of our home and excited every time we pull into the driveway. It’s taken some time, but it’s been worth it—and we’re trusting that we’ll look back fondly on these days of remodeling chaos. We might even decide we need to take on another project. I said might!
